Pinecone Notes Launches Offline-First Notes App for Field Researchers
The app keeps every note, photo and GPS tag on the device and syncs in the background once a signal returns.
PORTLAND, OR, September 22, 2026 — Pinecone Notes today released its notes app for researchers who work without a reliable connection. Notes, photos and location tags are stored on the device first and sync in the background when a network becomes available.
The app is aimed at ecologists, geologists and survey teams who spend days in areas with little or no coverage. Each note records the time and position it was taken, and teams can share a project so everyone's entries merge once they are back online.
"We kept losing a day's notes to a dead zone," said Maya Ortiz, founder of Pinecone Notes. "So we built the app we wanted to carry into the field, one that never asks whether you have a signal."
Pinecone Notes is available now on iOS and Android, with a free plan for individual researchers and paid plans for teams. More information is available at pinecone-notes.example.
